JBSS provides a scholarly peer-reviewed publication forum and articles in the journal relate to any areas of the social and behavioral sciences. All manuscripts based on current or past AABSS conference presentations [oral or poster sessions] are invited for potential JBSS publication. Submission to the journal results in a peer-review process whereby the manuscript is evaluated by other scholars who may make recommendations to the editor regarding elements that potentially will strengthen the article. Acceptance or rejection for publication in the JBSS ultimately rests with the editor, following input and due consideration from the peer-review process.

In addition to papers presented at the annual AABSS conference, the JBSS editor also invites manuscript submissions outside of the conference presentations. Articles are elicited world-wide and, although the editor gives first consideration to AABSS conference papers, manuscripts that have not been presented at the conference are given all due and plenary consideration.
